Philip J Davies Holdings was one of the co-sponsors at the recent Place North West Offices & Workspace Update, which took place at Manchester’s Museum of Science & Industry in October.
Following a networking breakfast, professionals across the office market discussed the current sector and how it has been impacted by global events over the last two years.
PJD Owner Mark Davies was one of four panellists, alongside Martin O’Rourke, commercial director at Patrizia, Sarah Syson, design manager at Claremont and Chris Cheap, managing director of Avison Young.
Key topics included flexible office space, the refurbishment of old buildings and the change in occupier expectations as people return to work post-pandemic.
Reports show that there has been a slower than anticipated return to the office but with 712,000 sq ft of deals in Manchester in the first ¾ of 2021, the city is proving its resilience.
Current market trends demonstrate that occupiers are looking for less space but better quality, with well-being in the workplace key to attracting and retaining talent.
The ability to offer flexible workspace has become increasingly significant, with developers now aware that forward fitted suites needs to become a major factor in any commercial developments moving forwards.
